Skokloster Castle

DOCUMENTED: Skoklosters Slott (746 96 Skokloster, Uppland / Uppsala County) stands on Mälaren between Stockholm and Uppsala. Herman Wrangel received the estate from Karl IX (1611); son Carl Gustaf Wrangel (1613–1676), field marshal and one of Sweden's most powerful men of the Empire period, began the present palace in 1654 with Anna Margareta von Haugwitz. Architects associated with the Baroque design include Caspar Vogel, Jean de la Vallée, Mathias Spihler and Nicodemus Tessin the Elder.
